65ft Landing Craft General Purpose Mk.2

These follow on craft were an improvement on the MK.1. They were designed in close co-operation with the Marine Branch, to fulfil their operational role at Gan in the Indian Ocean. They were used for a variety of tasks, from off loading vital supplies for the base, ferrying personnel, and assisting with mooring up the large oil tankers. Prior to the unit closure LCGP.2 was transferred to the Royal Navy Small Craft Disposals for sale March 1975. The other two craft were handed over to the Maldivian Government.
