60ft Landing Craft General Mechanised Mk.7

The Landing Craft mechanised were used by the Branch to ferry all the neccessary building materials for the new runway at Gan in the Indian Ocean. They were all ex. RN war surplus craft that had been either in storage or reserve until transferd to the RAF in 1959. By 1961 all had been "Written Off Charge" to be replaced by the new LCGP craft. Unsuitable for further use they were loaded up with scrap and sunk at sea.
