65ft Walton High Speed Launch

Late in 1942, Walton Yacht Works completed the prototype 65ft High Speed Launch. This particular design did not go into production and only the single craft HSL 2642 was taken on charge by the RAF. The craft had a length 0f 65ft and a beam of 14ft 6in with a draught of 3ft at rest. Two Napier Sea Lion engines were installed, giving a total output of 1,000 bhp, which at full revolutions, propelled the craft at 30 knots. The accommodation was laid out in the manner usual for high speed launches and provision was made for six airmen in the forcastle, which was followed by the galley, a wardroom for two officers, a wireless compartment, engine room, and sick bay for six stretcher cases.
