British Power Boat Co - 18ft Marine Dinghy Inboard

The 18ft Inboard Dinghy was one of the first boats of hard chine design to be introduced to RAF service. Its most unusual feature was the fact that it was of hard chine construction, though of clinker build. Although the Inboard Dinghy was a high speed, engined craft, it was also classed as an open boat and was fitted with thwarts and rollocks which permitted it to be rowed if required. The inboard dinghy was used for general service and was controlled by a crew of one person. Five passengers, or half a ton of cargo, could however, be carried in addition to the coxswain. The craft was powered by a Meadows 8/28 gasoline marine engine, giving the craft a cruising speed of 10 knots or a maximum speed of 16 knots.
